Overview
In this episode, I got to interview cognitive psychologist, Steve Joordens, who also happens to be a co-found of a fantastic ed tech tool called peerScholar. Steve titles himself an unintentional entrepreneur, but he has really created something astounding with peerScholar. There is a lot to learn from Steve in this episode including how to have cool hobbies and be an amazing instructor of large courses (1800+ learners!). I really enjoy this conversation and learning more about psychology and its connection to ed tech. It’s time to grab your headphones and tune into this episode!

More About Steve Joordens in his own words…
I have been a Professor of Psychology at the University of Toronto for decades, and I also offer 4 free courses on Coursera.org. As Director of our Advanced Learning Technologies Lab, my research is focused on building and assessing educational technologies, primarily to establish evidence-based related to efficacy and usability. One of the applications we created is called peerScholar, and it is now being used in 10 countries to help students develop the critical skills of success, skills like critical and creative thought, effective communication and collaboration, and enhanced metacognitive awareness. The efforts of our lab have been recognized by many awards at the institutional, provincial, and national levels. For example, I was named a 3M National Teaching Fellow, and peerScholar itself won the National Technology Innovation Award from The Learning Partnership.
