Nicholas Swope is a passionate public health practitioner with nearly a decade of experience in rural, international, non-governmental, non-profit, county and State-level health systems. His background in creating lasting community partnerships, cultivating cross-cultural competency, and managing all aspects of the public health toolkit – administration, funding, team management, implementation and beyond – make him an invaluable asset to Eastern’s MPH students.
Nick was the co-founder of TEDxCoeurdAlene and has served as an active member on the boards of several non-profits and state-wide working groups. Nick was a public health implementer in a rural Mongolian hospital while in the U.S. Peace Corps and served domestically as an AmeriCorps public health worker in Illinois.
Nick received his Master of Science in Health Sciences from Western Illinois University, Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of Oregon, Public Health Management Certificate from the University of Washington's Northwest Center of Public Health Practice, and a Post-baccalaureate Certificate in Health Services Administration from Western Illinois University. His volunteerism and community activism have been recognized by his receipt of the 2015 Illinois Governor’s Service Award, 2017 Kootenai County Young Professionals Top 30 Under 40 Award, and 2020 Immunizations Champion Award from the State of Idaho.
His greatest achievement to date, however, is being the proud father to his wonderful daughter and son.
